Noida: In the last elections, many residents voted without the photo ID card. Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) and NGOs are roped in to raise awareness among voters about the importance of the voter ID cards.
The district administration has geared up to launch the voter ID registration drive ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections to be held next year. The drive will start from June 6 and residents can register themselves at the nearest election booth with the essential documents. Residents are required contact their respective sector`s RWAs or the district election office located in sector 19 on all working days to get their cards made. The drive aims to speed up the process and to bring awareness among the populace. Residents can also contact office bearers of Federation of Noida Residents` Welfare Association or their area`s respective sub-divisional magistrate for assistance.
Depak Aggarwal, District Magistrate, Noida, who also holds charge as the district election officer, explained that residents can make changes in their personal data by filling out form-8. Individuals whose names are not in the voting list will have to fill out form-6 and provide proof of residence to register their names so that the election office can make new photo IDs. Form-7 would have to be filled for deletion of names from the current voter`s list in case of death or moving to another state.
